This time, we're going to be discussing the ipod touch/iphone and its music production capabilities.
As we all know the iphone is currently the best selling phone worldwide and the ipod touch has the most applications and uses over any other MP3/Media Player ever made!
But what some of you are asking is, how powerful exactly is this product and how can it help me?
Being a music producer myself, I was intrigued at the phone and Media player's capabilities and was eagre to find out what this baby could do in terms of not just listening to music, but making it!?
It started out with a few basic synths and simple beat mahines...
Now, we are seing full blown mini production studio's like finger beat making their way onto the scene for as little as £3.00 in the App store!
Compare that to shelling out anywhere from £50-500 quid for a home DAW like Cubase or Reason and you're talking absolute peanuts for these Apps that do basically the same thing, just in a mega mini package!
Of course we cannot expect these mini Apps to stand upto music production giants like Image-Line (FL Studio) or M-Audio (Pro-tools), but they are sure getting the attention of musicians and producers alike and are creating quite a storm.
Even with T-Pain releasing his own, 'Auto tune' App that allows anyone to be a T-Pain sounding vocalist!

Just wanted to post about a piece of software named beatmaker for the ipod touch/ iphone.
It is a sample and touch pad based piece of software that allows you to record drum/pattern loops.
It comes with a number of pre-installed sample packs from well known artists from various music genres, but also amazingly allows you to build up your own custom instrument packs from your own personal sample library at home!
There are some cool features such as the ability to overdub, which will allow you to make your beat on the fly while listening to it loop over as you add or take away instruments, so you can hear what your loop sounds like in full without having to stop and go all the time.
Has anyone had any experience using this app?

Yes yes music lovers all over the globe.
Today I just wanted to talk about iphone/ipod touch apps and what your experiences or preferences and opinions are when it comes to them and their capabilities for music production?
So to start things off I'd like to say that I have been looking at 'finger beat' for a while now and it looks like a sick piece of software. According to the company that make finger beat, (The Elionze group ) it can do basically everything I can do at home on my laptop, but on a smaller scale and on the go on my iphone/ipod touch! This means, producing a beat from scratch, mixing it down and even recording a vocal over it when I am done, all in one App! (an external mike is needed for the ipod touch) Is there anything that this app can't do? Or is it as good as they say it is!!??
