The sound of music...
Okay if you're anything like me when it comes to music and listening to it you Will want to have the best headphones there are out there in order to give you the experience in sound that you are looking for.
And again if you're anything like me, you would have also been let down, O too many times!
So from one audiophile to another (or not), here are the top 8 best Headphones around.
There is a pair sure to please every ear and in some cases eye too!
1: Sennheiser HD 800:
These headphones are pretty much the best around with the best all around sound, covering all the highs, mids and lows better than any other currently on the market.
The HD 800's are built to be very comfortable and they are, which makes makes them hardly noticeable when listening. They are relatively light for their size and do not feel cheap at the same time.
They have a good frequency range of 6-51Hz, so you will hear those low sub basses and those hi hi-hats.
The HD 800's live up to their name and sound truly HD. You will hear everything in everything!
You will hear all of those instruments FX etc you never heard before, as well as all the stuff that should have been in the track, but isn't!
Overall Rating 9/10
Next in line,
AKG K702:
The AKG are really well rounded and very comfortable on the head. They do seem a little bulky in some areas, but the phones are still streamlined very well and will not give you any trouble after a couple hours listening.
They are open backed, so you will not have as much noise cancelling as a closed pair of headphones, but they do hold up pretty well against outside noise.
They are well balanced and have a good frequency range of 10-39Hz, so you won't get as good as the HD 800's, but you will get a lot better than your standard iPod headphones.
Overall Rating 8.5/5
At No.3
Denon AH-D1001:
These phones are very comfortable and compact and make a treat to wear while out and about.
With their closed back design, their is minimal loss of sound and they also double as a decent pair of ear muffs!
These phones are really made for the person on the go and the lifestyle of he street, with their short lead and loud and punchy sound.
The phones do well on the low ends of the bass and handle it quite well, and the mids and highs are equally impressive.
These come in at three because, they are a good all-round headphone, with great all round specs, they only lack the high end definition clarity you get with the first two we mentioned, but sure give them a run for their money.
These phones are perfect for daily Pod listening.

Grado GS1000i
Now contrary to most say about these phones, I don't personally think that they are the best my £1000+ can buy!
Yes they are brilliantly designed, yes they do pump out extremely good quality sound, but they are not comfortable to wear, especially if you are like me and have an average sized head.
The sub low bass is near non-existent and does not justify the price tag for me.
They are very clear and yes the mids and highs are near incomparable, but for a grand+, I expect to be blown away.

Shure SRH840
These cans are pretty cool and it was debatable whether they should make fourth or not, but due to the quality of the Grado's they made it in at 5th.
The Shure's are very comfortable and make great studio headphones and have good cushioning and closed backs to keep your sound yours and not everyone else on the trains.
They come with a 3m cable so you can move relatively freely around the studio without having to take the phones off your head. The other great thing about these headphones is that the cable is detachable and coiled, so you can easily pack them up and carry them without worrying about tangles and tripping over.
Overall the phones are good all-rounders and make good monitoring headphones, but the bass is lacking again!
Overall Rating 6.5/5
No.6
Audio Technica ATH-W5000
Enclosed in wood, these phones give good noise resistance and make for smooth and clear listening.
Your sound will not leak and others around you will wonder why your head is bouncing around so much, when it doesn't seem like you're even listening to anything.
These phones are exceptional when it comes to processing vocals and will make listening to lyrics and voices a dream (depending on what your listening to).
These phones are not bad when it comes to bass and there is a clear presence of depth in the sound, but you will need to turn up your players to get real sub and low bass to become worth listening to, which will in turn hurt your ears a bit as the mids and lows become slightly overbearing.
Overall Rating 5/5
No.7
Beyerdynamic DT660
Okay so now we're moving into the final two of the best available right now and the Beyerdynamics come in at 7 and do just about enough to make it onto the board.
They are not a bad pair of phones and do what they are supposed to do and will make a worthy replacement of any standard headphone that comes with your player (unless you are buying some of sony's new players which come with excellent in-ear phones).
These phones are uncomfortable on most heads and feel bulky and awkward, which makes long periods of listening hard.
They are very good when it comes to mid range sound and perform very well when handling rock and acoustic sounds, but when it comes to bass, they do not cut the mustard.
Overall Rating 3/5
No.8
WeSC Maracas
Why you'd call your headphones Maracas is beyond me?
Anyway, these headphones are purely for the fashionable listener who wants a cool pair of cans to go with their trendy outfit.
The sound is not the best of qualities and can make listening to anything for a prolonged period headache invoking, however they do pump bass like a stack of club speakers in a D&B rave!
They will make a decent change from your standard in-box headphones, but will not blow your socks off with crystal clear clarity.
Overall Rating 2/5
So there you have it. A quick, but I hope decently detailed list of the best 8 Headphones about right now.
